WOMEN’S MONTH FEATURE: SR CLAIR
Leading with heart, wisdom, strength and humility are the principles that Sr. Clair Wade continuously shares with the SBS community. As the representative of the owners of the School, the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood in the School’s Governing Body, Sr Clair Wade ensures that ethos of the School is upheld, a responsibility she has been championing since the early 90’s when her visionary leadership as SBS principal was instrumental in keeping the School’s gates open.
‘The School was very small and not financially viable which meant that we had to rethink and explore new ways of teaching and learning to overcome these challenges,’ said Sr. Clair.
This progressive and innovative thinking also led to Sr. Clair championing the opening of the high school arm of SBS.
‘It was a time of transition which meant that my team and I had to be innovative. With the support of committed teaching staff, parents and family atmosphere we were able to reengineer operations in order for the School to keep its doors open. I am proud of SBS achievements as it exists today as an independent school in the forefront of nurturing learners to become future leaders from Grade RR to Grade 12,’ she added.
Today, apart from supporting SBS teachers in the administration of their tasks, Sr Clair also runs the Tre Fontane Guest House, a retreat for individuals or groups, located in Mariannhill.#SBSPowerWomen
