On the 5th of May the High School Soccer boys and girls teams headed to Johannesburg for a soccer tour.

On Friday the 6th of May, before our first soccer Match, we took a sightseeing trip to the new Mall Of Africa, and had Starbucks for the very first time. After an adventurous day at the mall, we made our way to Crawford in Sandton to play our first game of the tour.

The boys played exceptionally well, showing great skill and talent and managing to walk away with a 2 all draw.

The girls unfortunately didn’t come away with a win or draw, but they showed great team spirit and composure to end up with a 3 – 0 defeat. It was a great game to watch as no goals were scored in the second half.

On Saturday we were extremely eager to get back out on the soccer field. We had fixtures scheduled at Holy Family College.

The boys took to the field first, after what was an exciting first half, the boys were 1 – 0 up at half time.  Holy Family College then came back to equalize early in the second half, which made the game even more intense, but through great team work, the boys managed to score the winning goal leaving the score line at 2 – 1, an unbeaten run in Johannesburg.

Then it was the girls turn.  After the loss of the previous day, the girls were eager to get onto the field to show their skill. It was a hard fought game between the two sides with St. Benedict walking away with what was their first win in almost 3 years, coming away with a 1 – 0 win.

We were then treated to a trip to Lucas Moripe Stadium to watch Mamelodi Sundowns take on a team from Ghana. After the game the students were invited to meet the players, which to them, was a huge honour.

On Sunday it was time to make the long trip back home…stopping at Liberty Midlands Mall for the students to buy their mothers, Mother’s Day presents.
