Beautiful, creative and colourful artworks from talented artists at St. Benedict School were displayed at the annual art exhibitions held at Pinetown Girls High School and the Royal Agricultural Show,...
The Annual Science Expo was held in July this year. In the first round, learners at SBS from Grades 8 to 11 participated in either the Life Science or Physical Science section at school level. Judges for this stage were invited from UKZN, DUT, SA Sugar Research as well as some past pupils. The expo was a huge success.
Following the School Expo 28 entrants were then entered into the F.F.S expo held at UKZN (Edgewood Campus). Remarkably, every one of the 28 entrants obtained either a first, second or third place finish. Three of our learners, namely Nicola Siepman, Candice Leslie and Shantay Dauberman won silver medals and were duly selected to attend the National Tour of Young Scientists to the Mpumalanga Province, together with winners from other schools. Nicola also achieved “Best Research in Marine Life” and received a prize from uShaka Marine World.
Selected SBS learners participated in the Sustainable Living Expo and proudly displayed their eco-living science projects to the public at the Durban ICC.
In addition to a highly successful Science Expo, learners from our school were also invited to take part in a Science experiment at UKZN (Howard College) in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record in October. We wish all participating learners the best for this event.
