Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling to 4-8 year olds. The Letterland characters transform plain black letter shapes into child-friendly pictograms.
As the Grade R’s had completed learning about all the letters and the sounds they make, it was celebrated by having a Letterland Dress Up Day and party. The children chose a character that they loved, dressed up like the character and brought party food that started with the same letter. Later in the day they paraded through the Primary School, while the older learners tried to guess who they were.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by the children and teachers alike.
