The end of Term 2 of 2017 marked a very special moment – a moment of mixed feelings and many blessings.

Firstly, the sad part is saying goodbye to a very special lady – a very special friend – Mrs Morrissey – someone who has given almost twenty years of her life to St Benedict School – but the happy part is that we celebrate an incredible career in education for a wonderful lady, an amazing teacher, leader, mentor and friend.

In honour of Pam Morrissey, a Grade 7 teacher at SBS for nearly 20 years, a Garden Party High Tea was held by the Primary School staff, an occasion marked by glamour, love and laughter.

Pam’s family and the full SBS staff compliment, past and present were invited to attend a Cocktail Party, yet another special event to thank Pam for her contribution to SBS and to education.

The celebration of Holy Mass on the last day of the term ended with the final tribute to a career spanning more than 42 years in teaching.   During this time Mrs Morrissey has not just been a teacher but Head of Department, Deputy Principal, Head of Primary School and more recently Acting Principal.  The tributes paid to Pam during the past weeks clearly let her know how highly she is valued and respected by her fellow MANCO members, by the staff and by the learners and families of SBS.

A special thank you goes out to Pam from SBS staff, learners and families to thank her sincerely for all she has been to this school.   “Pam, you have seen many changes in education throughout your career and indeed here at SBS too, but you have never changed who you are – honest, strong, true to yourself, caring and giving to every learner and colleague.  We have been blessed to call you our teacher, mentor, leader and friend and you need to know what a void you will leave, but this void can be filled with wonderful memories and with the legacy you leave behind.  You are one of a kind, we love you and we will miss you. May the coming days, months and years of your retirement be blessed with health and happiness”.
